India has five Trade Marks Registry offices, and the one that handles your application is decided by your principal place of business. For every business in Gujarat that is the Ahmedabad branch, at Boudhik Sampada Bhawan near the Chanakyapuri overbridge in Ghatlodia. Its jurisdiction covers Gujarat, Rajasthan and the union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
You never need to visit it to file. The search, the application on Form TM-A, the power of attorney and any reply to an examination report are all filed online, and under Rule 115(1) of the Trade Marks Rules, 2017 hearings may be held by video conference. The government fee is the same across Gujarat
The fee is set by the Trade Marks Rules, 2017, not by the state. For an online application it is ₹4,500 per class for an individual, a DPIIT-recognised startup or a small enterprise, and ₹9,000 per class for a company, LLP, partnership firm or any other applicant.

Mistakes we see across Gujarat
- Treating the company name as the brand's protection. Incorporation, GST and Udyam registration give no trademark rights. See company name vs trademark.
- Filing only for the shop, not the product. A manufacturer that sells its own branded goods needs the goods class, not just Class 35 for retail.
- Copying a competitor's specification. It widens the marks your application can be cited against without protecting anything more that you actually sell.
- Claiming use you cannot prove. A claim of use before the filing date needs a user affidavit with dated evidence — see the user affidavit guide.
- Exporting before filing in India. An Indian filing date is the base for an international application through the Madrid Protocol.
